Job Description:

Discover Classical 88.1, 89.1, & 89.9FM has a rare opening for a friendly, energetic, trustworthy, ultra-organized person to join our exceptional team at one of the premier, independent, classical music stations in the country.

The Membership Services Manager is responsible for the station’s donor base, often the first point of contact for our listeners/members who have questions or comments about the station and their membership. Aspects include: updating/maintaining donor information tracking membership activity and changes, which result in higher renewal rates, increased levels of giving, and overall growth of the membership base through on-air pledge drives, direct appeals, and mail campaigns. The ideal candidate will also manage day to day duties of the office which includes: answering phone and email queries from listeners/donors, ordering office supplies/needs, and greeting guests. This is a rare opening within a stable organization with little to no turnover. The two people who previously held this role worked a combined 20 years in this position.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Direct communication with listeners/donors, addressing member questions and concerns with appropriate correspondence and/or follow-up.
  • Assist Development Director in donor cultivation, from entry level to legacy giving.
  • Database management, including processing all membership payments, maintaining accurate membership database records, and compiling reports as needed.  
  • Preparation, tracking, and mailing of all membership renewals.
  • Acknowledgement of contributions and fulfillment of thank-you gifts.
  • Coordinate with Underwriting and Finance departments to bill corporate sponsors.
  • Train, direct and supervise office and on-air campaign volunteers in all membership functions.
  • Collaborate with staff on the preparation of weekly e-mail newsletter, Keynotes, and distribute to subscribers.
  • Help with selecting premiums, fulfillment, and creating & maintaining webpages required for fundraising during pledge drives.
  • Serve as primary point of contact between station and Combined Federal Campaign.
  • Management of office, including office prep for in-station events.
  • Represent station at outside events as needed.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Associate Degree or at least 3 years of administrative office experience. Bachelor’s Degrees receive first consideration.
  • Demonstrated understanding of database management. Knowledge of Allegiance, Blackbaud, or similar software, is a plus. 
  • Competent in Microsoft Office 365:  Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive.
  • Accounting/Bookkeeping experience is helpful.
  • Excellent organization and communication/writing skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a group, as well as unsupervised.
  • Knowledge of classical music is helpful but not required.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Time Management skills.
  • Ability to train and manage small groups of volunteers.
  • Candidates must be adaptable to a flexible work schedule, including occasional evening and weekend work.
