Children's Programming is responsible for developing, producing, and supervising GBH multi-media productions for children and families. Children's Programming is committed to creating and delivering the highest quality content on television and new platforms that engages children and enriches their lives with new learning experiences while providing valuable resources for their parents, caregivers, and families.



Reporting to the Vice President of Children's Media and Education, the General Manager, GBH Kids is responsible for the internal production management and coordination for media projects and developing and executing strategic and long-range plans for GBH Kids projects. The General Manager will also be responsible for financial planning, providing support for cultivation and maintenance of distribution partnerships, and coordination on GBH Kids' engagement/outreach activities. The General Manager will work closely with the editorial & creative team in supporting the development, launch, and day-to-day support of all projects. Also, this position will work as an internal liaison across all GBH internal departments.



  • Serve as the Internal production management and coordination for GBH Kids media projects. Work with the GBH Kids Creative Director and Executive Producers to streamline and expedite processes and prioritize workflow with Legal, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Fundraising, Corporate Sponsorship/Membership, and Enterprises.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with Director of Communications for GBH Kids (Marketing) and Director of Licensing & Business Development (Enterprises). 

  • Work closely with the VP of Children's Media & Education and the CM&E senior leadership to develop and execute strategic and long-range plans for GBH Kids projects across a 3-5-year horizon.

  • Coordinate with Finance in preparation and review of the Children's Media annual budget, quarterly estimates, and monthly financial reviews.

  • Collaborate with Executive Director of Strategy & Business Development and VP of Children’s Media and Education on strategic and long-range planning for the GBH Kids slate.

  • Work in partnership with the Creative Director and GBH Kids editorial & creative team in supporting the development, launch, and day-to-day support of all projects.

  • Provide support for cultivation and maintenance of distribution and publishing partnerships, including PBS Kids, PBSd, International Co-Productions, Netflix, AppleTV+, Amazon, and others.

  • Assist with funder relationships to maintain and expand the base of support for GBH Kids projects. Including CPB, NSF, major donors, foundations, and corporate sponsorship.

  • Coordinate with GBH Education's Executive Director and the Director of Media Engagement on all GBH Kids community engagement/outreach activities. Align these activities across the GBH Kids slate and take a leadership role in Boston and other MA communities to raise GBH Kids media projects' visibility and impact.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

7-10 years experience in production management, financial planning, and strategic and long-range
