Job Description:
Georgia Public Broadcasting’s (GPB) is hiring a Community Engagement Manager that will implement events and initiatives based on public media content in communities across the state. Examples include film screenings, panel discussions, workshops, and annual large-scale family events. The Community Engagement Manager will work a hybrid schedule that includes remote and in-office hours. The position will report to the Director of Community Engagement. GPB is a statewide dual licensee comprised of 9 PBS television stations and 20 NPR radio stations that broadcast across the state of Georgia.
Candidate Responsibilities:
• Create community initiatives and events built upon a foundation of locally produced and nationally distributed public media content.
• Plan and execute community events (in-person/virtual/hybrid) at GPB and other venues throughout the state.
• Prepare and track funding proposals and donor reports for community engagement initiatives.
• Manage project budgets, accounts payable and receivables in coordination with GPB Finance Department.
• Collaborate with other GPB departments and appropriate partners to develop and execute comprehensive communication and promotion plan in support of projects and initiatives.
• Leverage network and contacts to source speakers and subject matter experts for specific projects.
• Serve as a liaison between other GPB departments and community organizations involved with GPB events.
• Plan and execute statewide community events for fundraising, cultivation, and marketing events at GPB including multiple large-scale family events annually.
• Prepare event management and post-event impact reports.
• Assist with other duties as apparent or assigned.
Candidate Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 5 plus years of progressive responsibility in nonprofit administration, and any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and organizational proficiency is required.
• Excellent organizational planning and proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Methodical and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and resolve challenges creatively.
• Foundational knowledge of fundraising and commitment to a culture of philanthropy; working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge preferred.
• Ability to work with diverse constituencies, partners, and stakeholders, locally and nationally, and communicate with tact, diplomacy and professionalism while representing GPB.
• Must be flexible to work nights/weekends; Periodic travel (in-state) will be required.
• A basic understanding of Georgia Public Broadcasting and the mission of public media preferred.
