KCLU Public Radio on California's South Coast (northwest of Los Angeles) is reopening its search for a Full Time Reporter-Producer.
KCLU is one of the most acclaimed small newsrooms in the western United States. Since the early 2000's, KCLU has garnered over 300 peer awards from RTDNA, AP and Radio & Television News Association of Southern California, plus Murrow and SPJ National Awards. Listeners in the Ventura and Santa Barbara radio markets consistently make KCLU their #1 choice, despite easy access to LA Radio.
This new position will play a pivotal role in expanding KCLU's footprint in local reporting, on the air and on our digital platforms. The successful candidate will apply all the tools of journalism to engage listeners with the wide range of stories that shape the communities we serve from the exurban edge of Los Angeles County, up the Highway 101 corridor through Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, northward to the Central Coast region including San Luis Obispo.
The successful candidate will have on-air experience, and a familiarity with and passion for public radio's distinctive approach to storytelling. You’ll be part of a close-knit team of professionals who are dedicated to public media's mission to connect listeners to stories that matter and foster informed conversation.
KCLU is part of California Lutheran University, a network of five stations on the California South and Central coasts, reaching well over 120,000 listeners per week. Salary is competitive and the benefits are excellent, including a 10% employer contribution into a TIAA 403b Plan after a year (or earlier if you have TIAA through a previous employer.)
