“Election 2020: Listening to America” is a massive public media project that is ramping up quickly and on an inflexible timeline. We need a well-organized individual to keep six or more collaborative station networks moving in the right direction. Communication — and that means speaking the language of public media stations — will be critical to achieving our ambitions of bringing diverse perspectives into our reporting in this election season. The Project Manager is essential to this effort and will play a leading role in navigating the challenges ahead.
The Project Manager will support all aspects of the Election 2020 project, keeping priorities on track and facilitating communication on many channels and with many people. This person will be the right hand to the Managing Director, particularly in regard to administrative and creative support.
Election 2020: Listening to America is a new grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The 18-month, $1.9 million grant will support a new level of collaboration among public radio stations to cover the 2020 elections. The project is led by KCUR 89.3, the NPR affiliate in Kansas City, where the central team is located. KCUR’s Donna Vestal is the Managing Director of Election 2020. KCUR is hiring six full-time staff to be a part of the central staff. For the right candidate, we are open to a remote workplace. This position is limited duration, 12-18 months.
