Kentucky Educational Television, (KET) has the following full-time position opening at its Lexington, Kentucky Network Center:

Producer/On-Air Image and Promotion

As the Producer/On-Air Image and Promotion, the individual selected for this role will support and promote KET’s mission, programs, and services through producing, writing, shooting and editing KET on-air and digital promotion, branding, and marketing. This individual will also produce creative, high-impact, integrated, and coordinated video that increases use, impact, audience, and support for KET.

 

Our ideal Candidate will:

Produce, write, shoot and edit high-impact, innovative, and creative on-air and digital promotion.  Oversee all visual, sound and content elements of the production. Perform pre-production, and post-production of on-air Image elements, funding spots, and other interstitial material.

Produce original spots to promote KET programs and services to utilize promo material from PBS and other sources; make decisions on customization and utilization, based on appropriateness for KET.  Implements on-air marketing priorities.

Prepare interstitial airtime and date parameters and dubbing requirements and disseminate to appropriate staff. Communicate with the Traffic Department.

Pay great attention to detail, ensure technical quality control of interstitial elements, accuracy of information (times, dates, titles etc.), and adherence to style formats. Make corrections as needed.

Research and develop promotion ideas; maintain standards of quality and consistency; work in a timely and efficient matter adhering to all deadlines.

Perform production tasks, including research, timing segments, logging footage, obtaining releases, keeping continuity notes, booking guests and travel, following scripts, proofreading gfx and operating production equipment such as lights and teleprompter. Prepare and maintain records necessary for the production personnel and facilities requests for broadcast, including budget materials rights, and talent contracts, equipment maintenance records, copyright information, and operational records and reports.  Cast talent and negotiate fees.  Supervise the director, associate producers, and interns and their activities. Direct, light, operate cameras, switchers, editors, and other production equipment as needed.

Attend regular meetings with Marketing Division, Image/Traffic staff and other departments as assigned.

Demonstrate dedication to diversity in areas of responsibility.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization.

 

Successful applicants will have the following skills and experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus a minimum of (2) two years of television production experience preferred. Practical experience in television may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Proven experience and achievement in producing, lighting, shooting, writing, and editing studio-based and EFP commercial/spot productions for local or national broadcast required.

Non-linear editing experience required. Strong computer, writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills required.

Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and Premiere experience required.

Must be able to carry production equipment (up to 40lbs).

Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.

Must maintain a valid driver’s license to drive KET vehicles.
