Digital Media Producer

The Digital Media Producer is part of the content team, working on digital content and ideas to help grow the RMPM platforms. The producer is a strong writer and editor with copywriting skills and knowledge of AP style. This person also maintains the website and CMS, making necessary additions and changes. Knowledge of news and the community are key to keeping us on top of relevant content and social media.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Posts and uploads multimedia (text, video, images, etc.) content to RMPBS.org, all station-owned platforms, and station social accounts
  • Collaborates with Multimedia Journalists and others around the station to provide information on both local and national content for platforms and newsletters.
  • Creates and executes digital special projects for website and social platforms.
  • Integrates PBS National content on RMPBS.org, station-owned platforms, and station social accounts.
  • Provides ideas for content team story execution on all platforms.
  • Creates a "voice" and content strategy for newsletters owned by Rocky Mountain Public Media; leads meetings to identify each newsletter's "purpose" and target audience.
  • Tracks open rates, engagement and other metrics associated with those newsletters alongside Audience Insights and membership team; create recurring reports for stakeholders with this data.
  • Creates digital and social assets as needed for newsletters.
  • Works with RMPM Audience data to create up-to-date user and viewer profiles based on metrics.
  • Provides coaching and training of RMPM staff (as needed) to use the newsletter system, Google Analytics, Crowd tangle, the current CMS, and other related programs.
  • Uses audience trends and analytics to increase social and digital engagement for Colorado Voices content.
  • Works on new digital initiatives and projects with both internal departments and outside organizations as needed or funded.
  • Other tasks as assigned and/or required.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ALL CONTENT TEAM MEMBERS

  • Responsible for daily production of responsive content and special project work when required (one or more story per week).
  • Shoots, edits, and/or writes content for multiple platforms of RMPM to help further the mission of creating a Colorado where everyone is seen and heard.
  • Engages with communities in Colorado to create an open door for content. Meet with community leaders to listen to and hear story ideas. Represents RMPM at community events.
  • Uses solid news judgment with the ability to see and recognize stories.
  • Actively participates in RMPM's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) training program. Uses key standards and teachings of DEI training when producing daily responsive content generation.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree and/or exceptional job experience in a relevant field with strong evidence of achievement is preferred.
  • Extensive writing and copy-editing skills are required.
  • At least two years' experience with email marketing and/or coordinating a member newsletter system is required.
  • Extensive experience with video and image management programs is strongly preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be able to work both independently and as a collaborative and productive team member.
  • Extensive knowledge of various CMS programs is preferred.
  • Experience with Live Stream, Youtube Live and other live stream systems is preferred.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (especially Premiere Pro, Photoshop) is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and project management experience is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable MVR; must be insurable for driving station vehicles.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position works primarily in office, studio, editing, and field environments. This position must be able to work a flexible schedule with occasional long hours including some evenings and weekends. Must be able to travel throughout the state and beyond, on occasion.
