About Our Agency:
South Carolina ETV (SCETV) is the state's public educational broadcasting network. SCETV amplifies South Carolina voices, provides educational experiences, and strengthens communities while working to create a stronger, more connected, and informed South Carolina. SCETV provides national and local content to classrooms via internet services Knowitall.org and PBS Learning Media. SCETV also provides teacher training and re-certification in face-to-face and online settings.

 

JOB PURPOSE:
 Represent SC Public Radio on-air by serving as a local host during NPR’s All Things Considered. Write and produce material for live broadcasts of news, weather, forward promotion, and other materials. Contribute news for morning broadcasts and written web stories. Act as producer/reporter for news reports and segments as needed.


JOB DUTIES:
Serve as a local Radio host, producer, and writer for local live radio broadcast during NPR's All Things Considered. Collaborate with reporters and producers to present stories developed by the news team. Follow national, statewide, and regional news. Develop relationships with and follows leads from news agencies, the public, press conferences, and other statewide sources. Broadcast material including but not limited to news, weather, and forward promotion. Serve as host during breaking news situations.

 Research and develop story ideas, conduct interviews, record sound, write, edit, voice, and produce reports, short form, and feature-length, for both on-air and online. Covers spot news and is involved with emergency broadcasts both in the studio and on-site. This position will, as directed, host public affairs programs and special news coverage.

Monitor phones, e-mail, AP Wire, SCEMD, appropriate apps, internet and other social media, etc. for any and all information pertaining but not limited to South Carolina Public Radio in the case of an emergency situation. Serve as an on-air host during these situations.

Other duties as assigned to include participation in community outreach events, fundraising activities, and public appearances at the direction of management. 
 

 

 

Minimum and Additional Requirements

 A bachelor’s degree in journalism and communications, and relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or relevant equivalent. Several years of experience as a reporter, producer, or host. Public media experience preferred. Knowledge of South Carolina Public Radio’s content and mission preferred.

Driving Record: If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver's license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.
