Coordinator, National Projects

Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Reports to: SVP & Chief National Content Officer, and Senior Director, National Project Management

We are looking to hire a National Projects Coordinator for our WETA National Productions department. In this role you will provide administrative support on various national production projects, including contribution towards the works of Ken Burns, Lynn Novick and Florentine Films; Henry Louis Gates, Jr., Inkwell Media, and McGee Media; the Well Beings campaign health projects; as well as other projects in the history, health and lifestyle genres.

The WETA National Productions department oversees the development, production and presentation of more than sixty active projects for national premiere, often accompanied by extensive national digital, engagement, and education plans created by this department.  The life of a national project at WETA typically spans years, and requires close communication with both internal departments at WETA and external clients and vendors.

The Coordinator will support WETA National Productions’ commitment to set the standard in public media for Content, Station Services, Education, Digital Content, Impact & Engagement and Partnerships. They will embrace and help execute on department strategic aims for Growing Audience; Digital Transformation; Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; Innovation & Experimentation; and Editorial Standards & Practices.

In an average week, you can expect to:

  • Manage comprehensive departmental calendars of meetings, events and deliverables.
  • Act as primary point of contact and ambassador for the Chief National Content Officer and Project Management staff. 
  • Develop executive presentations in both digital and/or printed formats.  (Microsoft Teams, BlueJeans and other video meeting platforms.)
  • Compile necessary materials for meetings in advance (documents, catering, A/V support, etc.).

What success looks like:

  • After 60 days, you will have a general understanding of the work of the National Productions Department, including familiarity with internal and external operations on different types of projects; general knowledge of our production and presentation portfolio; introduction to key contacts involved in project management; and working comfort with the various software employed by our unit, especially Concur, Replicon and our department’s use of Microsoft Office 365 SharePoints and Outlook Calendars.
  • After 120 days, you will have proficiency in navigating the WETA portfolio planning and meeting needs; strong general knowledge of WETA production lifecycles and project teams; participate in the planning for department project and staff meetings and/or events; and skilled at updating and maintaining master department portfolio files for team-wide use.

You must have:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and service orientation with the ability to take direction from more than one manager and problem solve.
  • Knowledge of and ability to develop and manage project plans, ensuring steps in process from the planning stages to completion are met, with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of media and ability to grow relationships preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of computer technology, using Microsoft Office programs — particularly calendars, as well as database

You should have:

  • BA or equivalent academic degree in an appropriate field relevant to WETA work.
  • Experience in media in a high-paced and team-oriented environment.

Proof of full dosage of a COVID-19 vaccination is required for all positions that will be working onsite, or may reasonably or occasionally be called to work onsite.
