Digital Video Content Producer

Full-time, Regular

Reports to:  Senior Creative Director

JOB OBJECTIVE

WETA is seeking a skilled digital video content producer to join our Communications Department, a natural storyteller at heart, to build affinity for our brand through exciting and engaging internal and external video productions. In this role, you will be creating content showcasing the many facets of WETA in a variety of formats including video, photography and animation for communications ranging from company events and meetings, broadcast interstitials, digital recruiting tools or other social media videos.

Some of the projects you may work on in a role like this range from taking photos of our television series hosts for publicity and marketing materials, editing a sizzle reel of the latest and greatest programs to come from WETA and PBS, producing a trailer to promote a new documentary film, or capturing video behind the scenes in our brand new, state of the art studios in Arlington, Virginia. Your work will be seen by many different audiences, from employees to our viewers around DC and the nation.

Looking to work with brand new, top of the line gear? This role will also be responsible for researching and building out the video and audio production kit that you would be using on a regular basis. It’s an A/V nerd’s dream!

The ideal candidate has a strong background in video production, including skills such as storyboarding, editing, on-site/event production, photography, lighting, color correction, motion graphics, and audio mixing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Producing and editing video projects (trailers, sizzle reels, station image and proof of performance campaigns, social media clips, and internal presentations).
  • Providing audio/visual support for in-person and virtual events.
  • Shoot and light talent and interview subjects for promos, commercials, and integrations.
  • Collaborate closely with Senior Creative Director, internal clients and stakeholders to help facilitate the creation of multimedia content.
  • Develop production schedules and manage project budgets.
  • Organize and manage video asset library.

SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Understanding of video specs and file formats for broadcast and digital output.
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software, with heavy focus on Adobe Premiere.
  • Skilled in the core essentials of capturing video (composition, lighting, and sound)
  • Ability to setup, handle, take down and maintain video production equipment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience at a creative agency, network, or studio with a heavy focus on audio/video production.

LOCATION

WETA and NewsHour Productions are Washington, DC established media and news organizations.  We are a largely local workforce based out of the Campbell Place office in Arlington, VA.  WETA and NewsHour Productions value employee flexibility when possible.  Most positions based in our Arlington, VA office will be onsite or hybrid, depending upon the role.
