Development Officer

Purpose of Position

The Development Officer will implement and manage critical prospecting programs and events to assist the development team in fundraising initiatives and ensure the acquisition of major gifts. This position plays a key role in engaging prospective supporters with the objective of increasing and sustaining philanthropic engagement and contributions over time. The Development Officer will identify, cultivate, steward, and successfully solicit individuals for major and planned gifts.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Actively manages a portfolio of Leadership Circle Members and donors to build a pipeline of major gift donors for the future. (Duties include but are not limited to making qualification calls/face-to-face visits, solicit, recognize, and steward donors appropriately)
  • Develops queries, exports, and custom reports in partnership with the membership and marketing team to assist development staff and division leadership with identification of prospects and evaluation of development productivity
  • Oversees promotional and informative materials for Major Donors in coordination with key team members
  • Acts as the project lead on annual giving appeals, working closely with the Development Coordinator
  • Identifies and implements strategies for identifying new potential major giving prospects
  • Manages key event and engagement opportunities for major giving growth
  • Work across departments to provide Committee and Board support (Duties include but are not limited to collaborating to create agenda and presentation materials)
  • Collaborates staff-wide to identify common goals and new opportunities, and eliminate duplication of efforts
  • Additional duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 3 years of development and fundraising experience
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience with CRM related systems
  • Strong project management skills and keen attention to detail
  • Ability to connect with people from a variety of backgrounds
  • Passionate about the WFAE mission and vision
  • Willingness and ability to work some evenings and weekends
