WPSU (https://wpsu.org/) is searching for a Director of Finance to serve as the top financial manager for the PBS and NPR affiliate station at Penn State. This position is responsible for communicating with and reporting to internal and external funding and regulatory agencies and industry groups, such as the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), PBS, NPR, the FCC, other public media stations, as well as the University’s external auditors. This key senior-level director at WPSU provides strategic direction and resource planning for WPSU, addresses broad issues and evaluates impact of decisions and all policy and procedures changes. The position oversees all financial, compliance, and budgeting processes for WPSU and oversees the work of others who have advanced skills in financial operations, contract review, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. Oversight also includes significant contract and grant administration, particularly related to WPSU's federal and state funding. Position oversees creation of audited financial statements in compliance with FASB and GAAP requirements and manages the annual external financial audit. This position also performs advanced analyses, solves complex issues/problems, and presents financial results to WPSU staff, Outreach Executive Management and the WPSU Board of Representatives.
Education and Experience:
Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher plus 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Also requires a working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, and excellent communication and problem solving skills. Audit experience and a CPA license are preferred.
