WSKG is looking for an energetic individual to lead our "Youth Voices" program. The ideal candidate will be skilled in multi-media production and have experience working with youth. This is an exciting and impactful opportunity to lead youth participants in creating original media content.
Job Summary:
As a Youth Voices Manager you will be responsible for overseeing and facilitating media-related activities targeted towards youth audiences (grades 6-12). This role involves planning, organizing, and implementing media projects that empower and engage young individuals. The Youth Media Manager will work closely with youth participants, ensuring their voices are heard and their creative expressions are showcased through various media platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development:
- Design and develop media programs that cater to the interests and needs of youth participants.
- Create a structured curriculum for media workshops, covering areas such as video production, podcasting, photography, graphic design, and social media.
Facilitation and Training:
- Conduct hands-on training sessions to teach youth participants technical skills in media production.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages creativity, self-expression, and collaboration among participants.
Youth Engagement:
- Build relationships with youth in the community and actively involve them in the planning and execution of media projects.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to help participants develop their artistic and technical skills.
Media Production:
- Oversee the production of various media content, including videos, podcasts, articles, and social media campaigns.
- Collaborate with participants to produce high-quality content that reflects their perspectives and experiences.
Event Coordination:
- Organize and coordinate events, screenings, or showcases to exhibit the work created by youth participants.
- Work with local partners, schools, and community organizations to promote and expand the reach of youth media projects.
Resource Management:
- Manage and maintain equipment, software, and resources necessary for media production.
- Ensure the safe and responsible use of media equipment by youth participants.
Documentation and Evaluation:
- Document the progress of media projects and maintain records of participant achievements.
- Evaluate the impact of the youth media programs and identify areas for improvement.
Community Outreach:
- Collaborate with community leaders, schools, and other stakeholders to increase awareness and participation in youth media initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in media studies, communications, education, or a related field.
- Proven experience in media production, especially working with youth.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and create an inclusive environment.
- Knowledge of current trends in media and technology.
- Familiarity with video and audio production, and editing platforms.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy and high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
- High degree of self-directed initiative, creativity and individual judgment.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Professional demeanor, positive attitude, and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
