Summary:  Under the supervision of the Manager Broadcast Operations, the Broadcast Operations Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day activities of station traffic which duties include the receiving, storage, distribution, preparation, quality control and broadcast of WTCI programs.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of the program and log/playlist, insertion of interstitial material, scheduling, recording/downloading and timing of programs, closed captioning, and interfacing with video servers and traffic automation for WTCI’s multiple broadcast channels.
  • Responsible for reporting functions, including reconciling daily logs, reporting on-air discrepancies, and the generating of invoices and affidavits of WTCI broadcast channels.
  • Work collaboratively with the WTCI staff to implement on-air programs and strategies for WTCI.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of programs and interstitials in the Myers Protrack system.
  • Record program material and prepare for on-air playback.
  • Interacts with The Programming Service personnel and other WTCI staff to determine future broadcast schedules.
  • May assist in spot production.
  • Follow current FCC rules and regulations.
  • Work cooperatively with others to further the mission and goals of WTCI.
  • May function as master control operator when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of broadcast log operation and function is required.
  • Training in automation systems for broadcast operation is required.  Myers Protrack experience preferred.
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • A general knowledge of FCC rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently with proven experience working under pressure to successfully meet multiple project deadlines.
  • Strong judgment, sense of ethics, integrity and accountability.
  • Passion for and knowledge of public media and its mission.
  • Associate Degree preferred.

This position is a full-time hourly position.
