Job Description:

WTJU Radio is looking for an Office & Volunteer Coordinator to maintain smooth operations, promote the station to the public, and recruit & train volunteers for this volunteer-powered media organization.

WTJU 91.1 FM serves the Charlottesville and UVA community with an eclectic range of music programming. WTJU's media brands also include a student radio station (WXTJ 100.1 FM), a podcast collective (VirginiaAudio.org), and a classical music service (CharlottesvilleClassical.org). WTJU also organizes a variety of community festivals, educational programs, live music performances, and micro-museum exhibitions.

In this role, the incumbent's work will be in three primary areas:

OFFICE COORDINATION

  • Handle contacts from the public to WTJU's main office phone number and email address

  • Serve as front desk point of contact most weekdays

  • Maintain inventory of office supplies

VOLUNTEER & OUTREACH COORDINATION

  • Work to create and sustain a vibrant, diverse, inclusive volunteer culture of belonging at WTJU.

  • Working w/ staff & WTJU departments, identify volunteer needs and recruit volunteers using inclusive recruitment strategies

  • Coordinate volunteer on-boarding and studio training

  • Solicit, train, and coordinate PSA writer volunteers

  • Solicit, train, and coordinate outreach & event volunteers

  • Coordinate outreach events & engagement programs (including coordinating staffing & logistics of WTJU's Odd Little Museum)

  • Assist with planning and coordinating WTJU community festivals and donor stewardship events

  • Assist Traffic & Programs Coordinator to maintain volunteer database, internal email lists, Volunteer Agreement compliance, and keycard access for volunteers.

DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT

  • Maintain donor database & generate reports (shared with Business Manager)

  • Ensure volunteer coverage of pledge phone shifts and orient new pledge takers

 

Required skills & education:

  • High School diploma

  • Excellent people skills and 1+ years’ experience working with diverse individuals and personalities

  • Excellent organization skills and attention to details

  • Strong ability to learn and use new software systems

  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission of WTJU and UVA

Preferred skills & education:

  • Undergraduate degree

  • 1+ years experience in a front desk and/or customer service role

  • 1+ years experience coordinating / organizing volunteers

  • 1+ years experience working with data entry and database reports

  • Experience in work environments with a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
