WUSF Public Media is a comprehensive public media organization that operates an NPR news radio station and an all-classical music radio station, and provides digital content online, through newsletters, podcasts and social media and serves a weekly broadcast audience of greater than 350,000. WUSF Public Media is a department of the University of South Florida, with 75 employees and a budget of $11 million and provides internships to students. WUSF Public Media's main studios are on the USF Tampa campus, with a broadcast and music performance studio on the USFSM campus and an office and news production studio on the USFSP campus.
Responsible for cultivating and soliciting corporate and non-profit support (underwriting) for all WUSF Public Media platforms and events including analog and digital broadcast, online and digital; and achieving annual revenue goals.
Cultivate and solicit media sales from commercial enterprises, businesses and non-profit organizations (underwriting), and achieving annual revenue goals. Manage the sales and sales relationship process by developing and maintaining corporate sales by prospecting, generating qualified leads, cultivating the client's relationship with WUSF Public Media and presenting sales proposals which result in a signed agreement. Media sales products include, but are not limited to WUSF 89.7 NPR, Classical WSMR 89.1 and 103.9, HD broadcast channels, event sponsorship and various digital products including websites, newsletters, streaming pre-roll and podcasts.
Liaison with internal departments (Programming, Production, Traffic, Business Office) to ensure proper execution at every level of the media sales agreement.
Provide stewardship for sponsors through strong customer service and client relationships, including resolution of past due accounts, billing discrepancies and scheduling discrepancies.
Attend external functions and other community-based events for lead generation, such as Chamber of Commerce meetings and station-sponsored events. Attend sales and staff meetings and other station events.
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Communications and three years of experience related to professional sales or media sales. Five years of experience related to professional sales/media sales or a combination of education and experience may substitute for the Bachelor's degree.
Experience in digital media sales.
