Maintain and advance the broadcast and digital infrastructure underlying Wyoming Public Media’s statewide services and the technology that supports daily operations.  Position responsible for FCC compliance.


  • Manage all aspects of technology for WPM, including broadcast engineering, information technology, engineering functions, broadcast transmission/distribution services, and a suite of digital products and delivery systems.  Remain abreast of the latest developments in digital both infrastructure and production areas, broadcast, and business technology.
  • Lead the assessment, implementation, and support of software and functional applications considering compatibility with WPM’s technology environment and long-range plans, risks, benefits, efficiencies, shelf-life, maintenance, and costs.  Report requirements to administration.
  • Establish, update, document, and maintain standard operating procedures and technology policies/protocols that ensure secure, efficient, and quality performance of WPM technology systems and equipment.
  • Oversee the digital operations of radio’s technical facilities and the ongoing maintenance and activity of the interactive platforms.
  • Manage the technology team, ensuring technical proficiency, professional development, performance management, and job engagement.  Ensure that technology departments are responsive and communicative about issues that arise within the organizations and with other relevant stakeholders. Identify talented, diverse IT and Technology staff, and recommend to administration for recruitment.
  • Oversee continuity and recovery systems for natural disasters and any other unforeseen events that could affect operations, security, and maintenance. Participate in state, national, emergency warning systems planning and execution and report activity to administration.
  • Establish a cohesive and future-oriented technical plan that reflects the needs of a complex and changing technology ecosystem.  Translate technical capabilities into resource allocation decisions that are integrated into WPM’s strategic directions and capital budget.
  • Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping WPM GM and leadership informed of all critical issues. Represent WPM externally as assigned.
  • Provide leadership and direction for long-term strategic planning, resource allocation and organizational design for broadcast/and digital technology strategies.
  • Provide management and hands-on expertise to sites across the state.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: {Hiring Manager to Select}

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or equivalent work experience in broadcast engineering, digital information technology or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in engineering and technology leadership roles that include digital audio formats, FM/HD Transmitters, antenna systems, contractor/vendor bidding.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of FCC rules and regulations for licensed broadcast facilities and public broadcasting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to travel to and service sites in high altitude terrains.
  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.


  • Experience in digital audio formats and technology for emerging mobile platforms.
  • Knowledge of traffic operations.
  • Experience working with creative audio productions including podcasts as well as emerging audio production projects that develop ideas and creativity.
  • Excellent strategic planning and demonstrated ability in managing personnel and budgets.
  • Ability to effectively analyze, appraise, evaluate, and solve problems; ability to learn new technologies.
  • Ability to work quickly in a strongly focused manner that prompts staff to work within timelines and project deadlines and to strive for excellence.
  • Strong customer service skills, and a strong sense of humor.
  • Passion for public broadcasting.
