Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) is one of the nation's premier public radio stations producing programming for radio, digital and live audiences and operates a 46-station radio network serving nearly all of Minnesota and parts of surrounding states. Reaching 1 million listeners each week, MPR and its three regional services: MPR NewsClassical MPR and The Current produce programming for radio, digital and live audiences.

Position Summary: 

As the Regional Membership Manager you are responsible for the execution, oversight, evaluation and reporting of fundraising programs of lower and mid-levels for MPR's three services: MPR News, The Current, and Classical MPR through multiple channels: on-air, direct mail, and telemarketing and stewardship. Working in conjunction with the Manager, Regional Fundraising and the Director of Membership, you will build revenue, acquire new members, and provide the highest level of service to existing members. This position is responsible for meeting or exceeding assigned member and revenue goals and is part of the Membership team. 

This position is a part of the APM|MPR Membership team and the Audience Development division, based in St. Paul MN. 

Position Responsibility: 

  • Together with the Manager, Regional Fundraising, plan and execute on-air, direct mail, telemarketing, digital and other fundraising strategies to meet or exceed defined revenue goals in the membership department budget.
  • Actively contribute to the ongoing development of MPR's digital efforts, ensuring that all platforms represent needs of Membership fundraising and cultivation.
  • Hires, supervises, trains, and manages Pitch Producers through providing work direction, constructive performance coaching, mentorship, performance meetings, and on-going feedback.
  • Manage premium strategies within budget for all fundraising campaigns.
  • Develop premiums and other incentives that will attract higher average contributions from listeners while decreasing costs of premiums.
  • Oversee vendor selection/management for premium and other related initiatives.
  • Oversee premium fulfillment and manage relationship with fulfillment house
  • Identify opportunities to gather information about audiences for the purpose of solicitation of financial gifts.
  • Keep current with best practices and innovations in fundraising, CRM and digital communications as they apply to AMPG's work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years' experience in public media fundraising or marketing.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in building Membership programs both in traditional and emerging platforms. 

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: 

  • Demonstrated ability to, and prior success in executing direct mail, telemarketing, and on-air fund drives including evaluations, timelines, budgets and benchmarks.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale deadline dependent projects.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills; ability to produce extensive written documents including fundraising scripts, emails, goal tracking, analytics and budgets. Well-developed collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated track record in meeting financial goals and developing strategies to maximize resources.
  • Able to function productively in a fast-paced high-pressure environment, work independently and accept direction. High energy, positive attitude, and a demonstrated ability to deliver results on-time and on-budget.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues in multiple departments/divisions.
  • Must have the desire and ability to successfully work as a part of a team, contributing to the overall quality of the Membership department. Strong attention to detail.
  • Must be open to working evenings and weekends as needed (specifically during fund drive campaigns). 

Preferred Skills and Experience: 

  • Knowledge of or experience in radio/audio production.
  • Knowledge of or experience in digital production.
