The Virginia Foundation for Public Media and Commonwealth Public Broadcasting Corporation, which does business as the Community Idea Stations, is searching for a Chief Content Officer (CCO). The CCO will set the vision, strategy, and goals for multiplatform content development and distribution in alignment with the organization’s mission to use the power of media to educate, entertain and inspire.
This position will report directly to the CEO and be a key partner in strengthening the organization’s relevance and long-term sustainability. The CCO will be responsible for developing a robust pipeline of content and scheduling strategy to expand market reach. He/she will oversee content creation in television, radio and digital departments, managing a high-caliber, diverse and innovative team.
Successful candidates will have experience in television, radio, and digital production and operations and possess creative vision with sound editorial and content judgement. Candidates should have experience managing multiplatform production contracts and budgets and have demonstrated knowledge of the public media system, including PBS and APT content standards and practices.
Candidates should be strong communicators with the ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders and decisive, inspirational leaders with strong change management skills. Candidates must be passionate about public media and having an impact in communities across Virginia. This position will travel throughout the state of Virginia, and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
