Job Description:

The Community Idea Stations is seeking a Digital News Producer to help our expanded news team increase the reach and impact of our news stories with complementary digital content. This role is for someone with a passion for news, the sense of urgency necessary to respond to breaking news, and the creativity to deliver content that pops as digital-friendly. This is a full time position with benefits and reports to the Digital News Editor.


The Digital News Producer will create pieces for 88.9 WCVE News’ digital and social platforms including video explainers, breaking news, and other content designed to enhance the impact of WCVE News content, drawing from news-of-day events, digital archives, and field materials. This position will produce, shoot, edit, and optimize digital native video and other compelling, sharable content to support WCVE News including, but not limited to,  interviews, original form features,  news explainers, live streams, mini-series, and events coverage.


Successful candidates will have one to three years’ experience producing and editing video for digital platforms, including field production and editing experience, preferably in a news-driven environment. Candidates should have an understanding of social media platforms and the type, format, and content of videos that resonate on each platform, as well as experience writing news related content. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or a comparable platform is required, and understanding of CMS and SEO best practices is desired.


Candidates should be well organized, able to work collaboratively with different teams, and able to balance multiple priorities, projects, and tasks. Candidates should have a valid VA driver’s license and clean driving record, the ability to lift 50 pounds, and the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
