The Community Idea Stations is seeking a Mobile Production Technician to oversee and operate our Mobile Production Unit (MPU). This is a full time position with benefits that is based in Richmond and reports to the Director of our Central Virginia Studios.
This position is responsible for supporting and executing live/recorded programming and conducting quality control of all outgoing feeds in the MPU. This requires adjusting, aligning and integrating all elements of the truck equipment inventory to provide a mobile production facility as required by events. Elements may include cameras, lenses, video servers and other video recording devices. The Mobile Production Technician will also respond to and report on client concerns regarding transmission paths and coordinate conference bridges. When the truck is not in use, this position will support the general production work in the Richmond area.
Successful candidates will have 3+ years’ experience in broadcast transmission environments with an emphasis on digital video broadcast and web streaming. Candidates should be familiar with Ross Carbonite Switchers, Xpression Graphics, Yamaha audio mixing systems and Clear Com. Experience with terminal gear, Grass Valley LDX 80 Cameras and RTS intercom systems is a plus. Candidates should have excellent troubleshooting skills, especially under time and resource constraints, and be able to visually identify video signal issues, noise, pixilation, etc. Candidates should be able to interact with a wide variety of individuals and work independently with little to no supervision.
Candidates should be able to work a flexible schedule including night and weekend hours, be available for travel, and must have a valid Virginia driver’s license with a clean driving record.
