Job Description:

North Texas Public Broadcasting, Inc, dba KERA, the PBS and NPR affiliate of North Texas, is a not-for-profit public media organization reaching the fifth-largest media market in the United States through KERA TV, KERA 90.1 FM and music station KXT 91.7.  For nearly 60 years, North Texans have turned to KERA as a vibrant destination for community engagement and lifelong learning. KERA has an immediate opportunity for a highly qualified individual to join the KERA team as Financial Analyst.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

 Under the direction of the CFO, this individual will spear-head the Company’s financial monthly forecast, annual budgeting process, revenue stream analysis, operating budget plan variance analysis and special projects. In addition, s/he will provide financial consulting and strategic support to Senior Management, including preparing financial presentations for the Board of Directors, capital expenditure cost/ benefit analysis, industry/peer group comparisons, new business opportunities, acquisition analysis and other projects requested by Senior Management. This function acts as the analytical engine of the company to provide insights and support ‘optimal’ business decision making. The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Develop and implement key performance indicators for all revenue channels
  • Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of variance
  • Oversee and manage the development of operating budget, financial forecasting, and modeling tools
  • Perform monthly Cash inflow and outflow analysis and projections
  • Create, implement, manage and use Business Intelligence Tool and Dashboards
  • Improve performance by evaluating processes to drive efficiencies and understand ROI in marketing programs and incentives
  • Perform Ad-Hoc Analysis as requested by senior leadership
  • Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives
  • Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision-making purposes
  • Support Senior Management Team and Departments Heads with in-depth analysis of financial data
  • Prepare presentations to Board of Directors and Senior Management Team

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS 

  • BS/BA  in Finance
  • 3+ years’ experience in a financial planning and analysis role
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial analysis and accounting principles and methods
  • Knowledgeable of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP)
  • Proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite with expert knowledge of Excel and the creation of pivot tables
  • Detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to apply analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Accurate, organized and detail-oriented with ability to plan and accomplish goals
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and to meet specified deadlines / deliverables
  • Ability to appropriately raise issues and concerns for resolution
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and data presentation skills
  • Ability to interact and communicate with all levels of staff including executive management
  • Ability to work effectively with others in diverse and multi-functional roles
  • Motivated, self-starter; willing to learn and adapt to changing/multiple priorities
  • Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information with the utmost integrity
  • Solution-oriented
  • Personable with a commitment to building relationships and providing the highest level of customer service
  • Demonstrates high integrity and poise
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License and insurance required for assignments/activities that involve work outside of the office. Must maintain a clean driving record.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • MBA in Finance or related
  • Non-profit experience
  • Experience with Financial Edge accounting software or similar accounting software
  • Experience with Tessitura Network or Web-based CRM software

 

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENT DEMANDS 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job with the ability to legally drive. The employee is sometimes required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
