Job Description:

BILINGUAL NEWS REPORTER – Northwest Public Broadcasting (nwpb.org), the NPR and PBS member station based at Washington State University’s Edward R. Murrow College of Communication, is hiring a multi-platform journalist to report on issues of importance to the Northwest region, with focus on Central Washington. Must be fluent in Spanish and English. The journalist will run the Yakima bureau under direction of the news manager based in Pullman, WA. Must be a tenacious journalist with unwavering commitment to the importance of ethical, fair, accurate journalism who believes in the power of purpose of public media.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

-Bachelor’s degree in broadcasting, mass communications, or closely related field.

-Minimum 2 years reporting/journalism experience.

-Fluent in Spanish and English.

-Valid driver’s license.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

-File spot, feature and in-depth news reports across all mediums, especially radio and web.

-Represent Northwest Public Broadcasting as a journalist and staff member, as needed.

-Be a voice in the region for honest, accurate, fair, ethical journalism.

-Be open to learning new and emerging technologies for news reporting and public engagement.
