Radio Milwaukee seeks an organized and enthusiastic Afternoon Drive Host / Promotions Coordinator The role represents Radio Milwaukee’s voice in the community. This person introduces programs and music, reads promotional copy and public service announcements, contributes to station digital media initiatives and is involved in the overall public presentation of the station.
The Afternoon Drive Host’s objective is to maximize audience acceptance and ratings by effectively projecting the station’s desired on-air image. They will perform assigned responsibilities in a professional manner while following the station format, company policies and procedures, State & Federal laws, and FCC rules & regulations while working as an effective team member.
As Promotions Coordinator, this person serves as the face of the station and takes advantage of opportunities to be in the field to help grow our audience and awareness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Host weekday afternoon on air shift, weekend voice-tracking and cover other shifts as needed
• 414Live Program
Book local artists representative of the station’s sound and city’s scene
Create promotions for web, social and on-air
Build relationships with partner organizations to help audience growth and engagement.
• Create web content
• Voice station promos, liners and IDs
• Participate in weekly music meetings
• DJ and Host Radio Milwaukee events
• Participate in on air fund drives and special broadcasts
• Support planning for 88Nine marketing events and be present at events as assigned
• Represent Radio Milwaukee at partner events and concerts as assigned, including MC duties.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Experience with automated radio broadcasting software. (ENCO, Selector, Music Master, Zetta, Etc.)
The ability to work quickly and meet deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to take direction from Program Director, Operations Manager, Marketing Director or other Company manager, and then appropriately adjust performance or behavior as directed.
Ability to organize and prioritize work in a timely manner and react well under pressure
Strong understanding of, and passion for, the Radio Milwaukee Mission and brand
Ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines
Exquisite communication and people skills
Ability to work quickly and meet daily deadlines.
EDUCATION and or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two years experience in broadcasting as an On-Air Personality operating audio equipment for both live and automated broadcasts.
Minimum of two years experience in voicing and producing audio.
Bachelor’s degree preferred
