Texas Public Radio is a mission-driven, award-winning, multimedia organization serving an audience of more than 200,000 across a wide expanse of the state. We are non-profit and community supported. We are looking for a highly-skilled, experienced Vice President of Finance to provide financial analysis and management to assist the organization in making its best strategic decisions.
Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Vice President of Finance will have day to day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial activities. This is a “hands on” position and requires significant collaboration with managers and employees throughout the organization. The Vice President of Finance is responsible for the accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, tax compliance, investments, insurance, human resource and audit functions at TPR. As a senior member of the Executive Leadership Team, s/he will play an important role in strategic planning and decision making, solving shared problems and ensuring aligned action to achieve the highest performance of the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, participate in strategic planning by providing analysis and insight into TPR’s financial capabilities and directions for future growth.
Develop financial strategies that support operational goals by preparing and reviewing short and long term financial forecasts accurately and communicating those to internal and external stakeholders.
Lead the annual planning and budget process and serve as a strategic partner to department heads in the development of budgets and monitoring of annual operating and capital budgets.
Oversee the organization’s achievement of budgetary goals and maintain sound internal control and cash management procedures.
Ensure the successful completion of audits, working directly with auditors in annual audit of financial statements and providing assistance in preparing the annual tax returns.
Ensure compliance with all financial reporting requirements associated with funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
Oversee the financial and payroll functions of TPR, including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
Oversee multiple human resource activities including job descriptions, interviews, exit interviews and maintenance of personnel files.
Other duties as assigned.
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration Finance, Accounting or related field. Advanced degree or CPA license is preferred.
Ten (10) years related experience or training, or combination of education and experience. Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting in accordance with U.S. GAAP, OMB Circulars A-133, A-110 and A-122 is required. Experience in a non-profit working environment is desired. Experience in a public media organization is a plus.
Comprehensive understanding of cash management, FP&A/budgeting, reporting, systems, audit, internal controls, tax and balance sheet management.
Excellent communication, organization and management skills.
Strategic problem solving abilities.
Strong work ethic and reliable performance under pressure.
Proficiency in applicable computer software applications.
Must have valid standard Class C driver’s license.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
Repetitive Motions: Frequently and regularly using the wrists, hands, and fingers.
Visual: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or other materials.
Physical: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. May have to lift folders, files, papers, audio/video equipment, and other such items weighing up to approximately 25 lbs.
