KGOU Production Manager / Host
KGOU is looking for a creative Production Manager/Host to develop and produce original features and programs while furthering our public service media mission. As an NPR affiliate, KGOU has a strong tradition of local, state and regional news coverage with emphasis on great storytelling. The new Production Manager/Host will play a key role in shaping our on-air sound and producing innovative programming – think RadioLab and Snap Judgment.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate an artistic vision for production of broadcast and digital news and entertainment content that inspires our audience. In addition, he or she must also possess strong organizational, technical and time management skills.
About half of this person's time will be dedicated to on-air hosting during NPR's weekday news magazine programs. The host must be engaging, with a conversational-yet-authoritative on-air sound, have sharp news instincts and effective storytelling ability.
The host will prepare and deliver timely news, weather and traffic segments each day, produce special programming and well-conceived audio features, conduct compelling interviews and be comfortable serving as emcee/station representative for public events.
The ideal candidate will have:
- BA degree in journalism, communications, political science or other appropriate field;
- Two years' experience in broadcasting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Strong writing skills and knowledge of AP style;
- Excellent audio production skills;
- Effective time management, organizational and interpersonal skills.
The position will remain open until filled. Salary range is $15.87 to $17.31 per hour. The University of Oklahoma offers excellent fringe benefits.
