Job Description:
The Director of Financial Planning and Analysis serves as WAMU’s primary liaison to Station Leadership on all financial and budgetary matters. Specific responsibilities include supporting strategic fiscal planning and budgeting, communicating any changes in policy or procedures to Station leadership and community, and forecasting and financial modeling for programs and projects.  Additionally, the Director is responsible for preparing WAMU’s financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) under the guidance of the Associate General Manager and the AU Controller’s Office and providing guidance and assistance to WAMU Directors and Managers on matters of interpretation of the WAMU’s financial reports.    
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance with a CMA (Certified Management Accountant). Master’s Degree or MBA preferred.    
Minimum Requirements:
  • 8 to 10 years of experience with at least 5 years at a non-profit
  • 5 years progressively responsible financial and accounting experience and experience dealing with various financial audits
  • Excellent analytical skills      
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to translate technical information into key points for decision making
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong cross-departmental relationships
  • Background in providing high level presentations to various levels of the organization
  • Proficiency working with Financial Systems and software
  • Ability to identify and provide solutions to accounting problems and interpret changes in financial regulations (GAAP, IRS, CPB, FCC). Customer service oriented.    
Preferred Requirements:
  • Prior experience with Form 990’s
Additional Information:
This position provides essential services to all WAMU departments. Success in this position requires self-confidence and the ability to work collaboratively. Evening and weekend work will be required occasionally.
