PBS NewsHour is hiring a News Editor who will oversee the daily coverage of news on PBS.org/NewsHour and its associated platforms. This position will work closely with the Senior Online Editor, collaborating on strategy and development of new digital content, projects and products. The News Editor also works closely with the senior leadership of the PBS NewsHour broadcast to expand the audience reach across all potential platforms. This is a leadership position on an innovative digital team that is expanding and looking for a creative thinker with strong journalistic skills and editorial integrity. Key responsibilities include assigning, supervising and editing news stories, writing content and packaging it for maximum reach and impact, working closely with the broadcast senior producers/producers to coordinate the digital and broadcast flow of content production and planning and coordinating Forward Planning workflow and assignments with an eye toward maximizing effective use of existing resources and the creation of distinctive, brand consistent content. Bachelor’s degree in journalism preferred, minimum of five (5) years of experience managing an online daily news operation and guiding movement of stories or equivalent combination of education and experience.
