The Senior Director, National Publicity develops, manages and executes promotional campaigns to gain visibility for WETA national productions, working closely with the Vice President for External Affairs, project executives, external producers and internal departments. The Senior Director also manages one direct report publicist and contributes publicity and communications skills to other projects as part of the Communications team. The Senior Director reports to the Vice President, External Affairs. Key responsibilities include devising full-scale strategic promotional campaigns for series, specials, proposed projects and multimedia initiatives in consultation with project executives and project teams in the earliest stages of project development and working with producers, funders, system partners and communications specialists to deliver timely results on project goals and budget. Knowledge and ability to develop, implement and execute promotional campaigns and programs, excellent writing and editing and interpersonal and communication skills are qualities the successful candidate will possess.
College degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of professional experience in public relations or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
