Job Description:

16.1                 Broad Function

(a)        Maintains and installs TV and radio studio, transmitter, and remote equipment.  Limited design, planning, and training functions.  Maintains safety and security measures at WMHT transmitter site.

16.2                 Responsibilities

(a)        Acts as Duty Supervisor by providing technical supervision to other technicians on assigned projects.

(b)        Operates, maintains, and installs TV and radio studio and transmitter equipment.

(c)        Makes program, operating, discrepancy, transmitter log, and maintenance log entries in accordance with WMHT standard operating procedures and FCC regulations.

(d)        Maintains neatness and good housekeeping of equipment and technical areas, including WMHT transmitter site.

(e)        Maintains current knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures and applicable FCC regulations.

(f)        Completes routine maintenance and installations as needed.  Makes emergency equipment repairs or operational changes as needed to continue TV or radio broadcast operations.

(g)        Communicates technical information through oral and written reports, including the use of appropriate engineering sketches and drawings.

(h)         Maintains state-of-the-art knowledge of electronics.

(i)         Performs component level troubleshooting and repair of all broadcast equipment.

(j)        Prepares detailed technical drawings and plant documentation as required.

(k)         Performs advanced operational duties, such as portable microwave set-up and operation and on-air related editing and dubbing.

(l)      Assists in the operational and technical training of other technicians and in the development of technical procedures.

(m)        Carries out technical planning and design assignments and completes technical research and produces reports including appropriate equipment recommendations and related costs.

(n)        Performs equipment modifications and interfacing as needed.

(o)        Responds to "on call" emergencies when received via pager.

(p)        Maintains security at transmitter and complies with all safety regulations; instructs other personnel in the proper safety procedures when working with high power transmitting equipment.

(q)        Drives WMHT remote unit and other vehicles as needed.

(r)        Performs related duties as assigned.
