Job Description
Content/Engagement Producer – Civic/Public Affairs
OVERVIEW:
An experienced journalist to help lead WMHT’s focus on civic and public affairs content and engagement. The ideal candidate would be comfortable with producing written and video features, daily updates, web/social media and broadcast pieces, and have the ability to lead community engagement efforts. Knowledge and understanding of government, policy, and procedure is highly preferred.

JOB DUTIES:
• Producing relevant daily content on social media platforms – 50%
• Help lead content development, production, and community engagement efforts across the civic and public affairs vertical – 30%
• Contribute to NY Now on web, social media, and broadcast – 10%
• Collaborate with other content/engagement producers and station staff on station-wide efforts – 5%
• Performs other duties as required – 5%
EXPERIENCE:
At least 5 years broadcast/public television/news gathering experience OR a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication or related field.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Required: Must be a good writer and storyteller (work examples required). Must have past experience in a newsroom or video production setting. Must have an understanding of social media best practices.
Preferred: Management experience. Adobe Creative Suite including Adobe Premiere, knowledge of the Capital Region and New York state. Ability to work independently and as a team member and act professionally at all times.
*May require some work on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
This is a full-time, exempt position.
