Job Description:

The Marketing and Community Engagement Director is responsible for managing day-to-day activities to develop audiences for the new Urban Alternative public radio format. Candidates must have an enthusiasm and vision for assisting in building loyal and lasting relationships with target audience via the new Urban Alternative public radio format. This position is vital in increasing community partnerships and engaging with the target audience through hosting and participating in community events, festivals and live broadcasts. The ideal candidate must have experience in marketing promotions, event planning/management, social media marketing, and digital communications.
Candidates must have a desire to build relationships with the Hampton Roads community to include, specifically independent music producers and artists, arts community, community leaders, faith community and the NSU community of students, staff and alumni.

Job Duties include:

1. Brand development, designing an engagement and solid content strategy, and the ability to set clear objectives through the usage of best practices in attracting target demo required. 
2. Working closely with the NSU Marketing and Communications department on visual design and a web development strategy aligned with the university brand.
3. Designing and providing content for the WNSB website, Constant Contact newsletters and marketing materials for events, programs and WNSB.; create along with general manager a marketing, branding and community engagement plan designed to increase awareness of WNSB and the Urban Alternative brand.
4. Develop digital and social media marketing campaigns to attract the target audience to WNSB.
5. Develop digital content, including the creation of weekly/monthly email marketing program.
6. Serve as a liaison with the local music, independent artists, and arts community to develop and implement the community engagement plan. 
7. Create new partnerships with community organizations to host remote broadcasts and manage productions from venues and festivals around Hampton Roads.
8. Identify opportunities and implement activities involved in partnerships, promotions, advertising, sponsorships, and events.
9. Responsible for planning and executing monthly community engagement events for target audience.

This is an essential position.

Minimum Qualifications 

1. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field, or equivalent, relevant job experience in public and/or commercial radio.
2. Background in developing a conversion strategy and managing and analyzing the stations ROI based on this strategy desired.
3. Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
4. Experience developing a revenue stream via a .org website through advertisements and audio/visual content a plus.
