Job Description:

The Digital Coordinator oversees all aspects of WRVO's digital content, including our website, digital platforms, social media and graphic design. The Digital Coordinator works with other WRVO staff to promote and highlight news coverage, station events and announcements, development activities and will manage onboarding and updating of station websites, apps and other digital platforms.

Responsibilities:

1.  Website and digital platforms

  • Oversee WRVO’s website in all capacities, including design, content and upgrades
  • Serve as liaison with NPR Digital Services, Public Media Apps and others to resolve website issues and follow up with WRVO staff as necessary
  • Train WRVO staff on best practices for posting news stories and using the website; further work with the news department to create web extras and supplemental content (graphics, charts, heat maps, etc.)
  • Maintain the online Community Event Calendar by approving/deleting events and ensuring lists of presenting organizations and venues are accurate
  • Write press releases and keep station announcements current
  • Oversee WRVO online ads, including maintaining a list of clients and appropriate ads for Google Ads (formerly Doubleclick for Publishers)
  • Maintain a list of active email subscribers for various department/station messaging
  • Track all relevant website metrics using Google Analytics, NPR Digital Service Analytics, Triton Digital and other tools; generate and share digital performance data with staff on a regular basis; prepare details reports for staff when necessary

2.  Social Media

  • Manage and maintain all WRVO social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  • Share relevant WRVO, NPR and public media content on social media platforms and engage with users daily
  • Onboard additional accounts, if necessary, and provide general guidance for special programs or projects
  • Track all relevant social media metrics using Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics and other tools; generate and share digital performance data with staff on a regular basis; prepare digital reports for departments when necessary

3.  Graphic design

  • Create and maintain website graphics for news, promotion and on-air programs
  • Develop ads for use on external websites, broadcast media and print platforms
  • Create graphic images for special events (i.e. programs, tickets, name badges, signage, etc.)
  • Work with Corporate Support Representatives to develop and create promotional designs to be used in literature for events, engagement activities, mailings, etc.; assist underwriting clients in developing ads for web and print

4.  Other

  • Participate in on-air and online fundraising activities
  • Attend and participate in WRVO station events as assigned
  • Serve as a representative of WRVO at meetings, conferences and other activities as assigned
  • Voice station promos or other continuity as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or greater in a related field
  • 1-2 years experience working in a “digital environment,” including some combination of website maintenance, graphic design and social media platforms
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with public media and/or non-profit organizations is preferred
