WUOT’s news department is looking to become an indispensable source of timely, accurate, in-depth information for a curious audience. As part of that mission, we’re searching for someone who can provide consistently high-quality reporting that adheres to public radio standards, and be an amiable companion for afternoon drive-time listeners. The job holder will also have opportunities to work with other Tennessee public radio stations and file for NPR’s Newscast Unit and news programs.
Knoxville is home to the University of Tennessee, the state’s flagship institution of higher education and a major economic driver. The Tennessee Valley Authority is headquartered here. Proximity to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Y-12 Nuclear Security Complex provides ample opportunities to report on federal matters that have local effects. The city has a burgeoning reputation in the culinary and music worlds. It is home to Nief-Norf and Big Ears, festivals that attract composers and performers from around the world.
91.9 WUOT-FM is a listener-supported service of the University of Tennessee. Its news department serves a radio and digital audience through live streams, a mobile app and social media.
