The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is Vermont PBS’s top technology executive responsible for developing and implementing multi-platform digital technology solutions for creation and distribution of Vermont PBS content across current and emerging platforms. The mandate for this officer is to ensure that Vermont PBS broadcast engineering, production, and digital operational requirements are fulfilled to include IT network integrity, production, communications, operations systems, and broadcast and internet/social media distribution integrity. Most important is the ability to collaborate and support management to align technology and business objectives with the technology and interests of Vermont PBS viewers.
The CTO will act as a technology strategist who will work with Vermont PBS’s senior management to identify and capitalize on broadcast, OTT, satellite and digital technology solutions that will advance the interests of the business. The CTO will provide Vermont PBS’s senior leaders with counsel to help drive decision-making on all matters related to business planning and integration of new technology, while ensuring sustainability of the organization.
Ideal candidates will feel a connection with Vermont PBS’s public service mission, have an interest in understanding media consumption and technology use in the Vermont community, and will be experienced across a range of technology systems and engineering functions including broadcast production and distribution. They will also have at least ten years of leadership experience in the Broadcast/Digital Media Industry, college or technical undergraduate degree, and SBE certifications. Candidates will possess an in-depth understanding of how a television station/media center operates and the ability to integrate new technologies into a media operation.
