CPB Statement of Condolence on the Death of Sabrina Fair Thomas of KLCS

Dedicated her career to public television station

Washington, D.C. (November 2, 2016) -- Patricia Harrison, president and CEO of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) made the following statement regarding Sabrina Fair Thomas, general manager of KLCS-TV in Los Angeles, who passed away October 20, 2016.

"The Corporation for Public Broadcasting extends its condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Sabrina Fair Thomas, general manager of KLCS-TV in Los Angeles.

Sabrina dedicated her career to PBS station KLCS, starting as a high school intern, then joining the station after graduating from college and rising up to the station’s top job in 2012. One of the country’s few women of color to lead a public television station, Sabrina oversaw the production of several Emmy-winning and -nominated series.

Sabrina was dedicated to ensuring equal access to the educational opportunities provided by television and digital media. She served on the board of American Women in Radio and Television and was in her second term on the Board of Governors for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in Los Angeles. 

We share the sorrow of the Los Angeles Unified School District community and the wider public media family at her passing."
