U.S. Senate Confirms Two Nominees to the CPB Board of Directors
Rubydee Calvert, Laura Gore Ross to serve through January 31, 2022

Washington, D.C. (May 24, 2018) –The United States Senate has confirmed the nominations of Rubydee Calvert and Laura Gore Ross to the board of directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB).
Calvert worked at Wyoming PBS from its inception in 1983. She served as general manager of the station until her retirement in 2015 and as president of the Wyoming PBS Foundation from 2006-2016. Prior to becoming general manager, she was the director of programming for 24 years, leading the production team to produce the station’s signature series MainStreet, Wyoming. Calvert served for six years on both the national PBS Board and the Wyoming State Board of Education, which she chaired for two years. She was elected to the board of directors of America’s Public Television Stations in January 2017. Her CPB term expires January 31, 2022.
Ross is a retired attorney with a career in government service, community affairs and politics. Currently, she manages family investments and is a member of the Screening Panel for New York’s Federal Judiciary. Ross served eight years as chief of staff to the Attorney General of the State of New York and was a Public Delegate to the 64th United Nations General Assembly. She was president of NYANA, a refugee resettlement agency, and has served as a trustee on numerous boards, including WNET public television for three years and WNYC public radio for seven years. Her CPB term expires January 31, 2022.
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), a private, nonprofit corporation created by Congress in 1967, is the steward of the federal government’s investment in public broadcasting. It helps support the operations of nearly 1,500 locally owned and operated public television and radio stations nationwide.
