American Archive Permanent Entity Grant: WGBH and Library of Congress

This grant funded continued station outreach, improved access to the digitized collection, continued identification and preservation of significant content and implementation of sustainability strategies for the American Archive of Public Broadcasting, which CPB funded to preserve the legacy of public television and radio. WGBH and the Library of Congress provide a central repository and management structure for the Archive and share the responsibilities of governance, the creation of a curation plan and the development of a long-term sustainability plan. Over the past six years, the American Archive of Public Broadcasting initiative has produced an inventory of 2.5 million records from more than 120 stations, contracted for the digitization of 40,000 hours of content nominated by stations and developed the Archival Management System software to manage content and preservation metadata. This funding represents an amendment to a previous grant.
