For three years, filmmakers Rachèle Magloire and Chantal Regnault followed a group of outcasts in Haiti: criminal deportees. According to U.S. policy, immigrants who are convicted of crimes can be deported upon completion of their prison term. Haitian immigrants who moved to the United States as children and were raised as Americans find themselves strangers in a country that the United States said is their home. Through a series of individual portraits, Deported gives voice to the former offenders and their families.
