Job Description:

Georgia Public Broadcasting is hiring a Radio Operations Manager to serve as the radio and news technology expert for their statewide NPR network, television programs and online content platforms. This key role plays a vital part in ensuring the seamless day-to-day operations of GPB, from scheduling and traffic management to technical support and production coordination.
The Radio Operations Manager reports to the VP of Technology and serves as a leader in GPB’s newsroom. The ideal candidate will enjoy exploring new technologies and discovering ways to leverage those tools for content creation with team members. They should be capable of assessing and solving problems, confident implementing new workflows across teams, and thrive when collaborating with peers on new ideas.

GPB is a statewide dual licensee comprised of 9 PBS television stations and 20 NPR radio stations that broadcast across the state of Georgia.

Job Responsibilities Include:
• Oversee all aspects of on-air operations: Manage and maintain the program schedule as provided by Director of Radio Programming, assist in ensuring accuracy and compliance with FCC regulations.
• Coordinate traffic and advertising: Secure and schedule on-air promotions, underwriting announcements, and public service announcements, as provided by the Director of Radio Programming adhering to internal policies and industry standards.
• Provide support to on-air talent and production teams: Assist with studio setup, equipment operation, and technical troubleshooting.
• Maintain the station's audio library and manage content management systems and audio archives.
• Assist the Director of Radio Programming with information gathering for reports to regulatory agencies and/or organizations.
• Collaborate with other departments, including Programming, News, Content, Sports, Education and Technology to ensure smooth workflows and efficient operations.
• Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices in radio operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Candidate Qualifications:
• A degree in Audio Technology, Music, Theatre, Journalism, Information Systems, or a related field of study is required, Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in radio operations management or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in radio/news operations or newsroom management is preferred. Alternative leadership experience may be considered.
• Must be a calm, effective communicator—able to handle shifting priorities or goals with composure and confidence.
• Ability to collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders and subject matter experts with varying levels of expertise.
• Ability to train and oversee teams and to adapt quickly to changes in work environment.
• Must be capable of working as part of a team with a collaborative attitude toward meeting shared deadlines and objectives.
• Strong understanding of FCC regulations and broadcast industry standards.
• Proficiency in scheduling and traffic management software.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized, with a commitment to accuracy.
• Passion for public media and the mission of our organization.
• Strong technical aptitudes and an ability to pick-up and troubleshoot software-centric workflows with ease are required for success in this role.
