Veterans Coming Home: Beyond Heroes - Station Relations

Building on a successful first phase of Veterans Coming Home, Wisconsin Public Television supports a content-centric, digital-first, and audience-focused effort, aimed at bridging America's military-civilian understanding gap. This collaborative campaign with Kindling Group/See3 Communications uses the power of public media storytelling to illuminate the nuanced, compelling, and authentic lives of post-9/11 veterans, advancing the dialogue and opportunities for veterans reintegrating into civilian life. Along with their own local content production and continued role as VCH lead station, WPT is working with CPB to design and administer a station grant program and provide stations with the framework, training, and tools for best engaging their communities and capturing local content in contribution to the national program. This local-national content partnership culminates in a Veterans Coming Home digital docuseries, as well as short-form, near real-time social media content, as the production team of military veterans travels the country to capture and share the most critical stories. WPT ensures digital distribution of the national series and encourages promotion within the system.
